Restricted: what happened
In mid-June 2026 a neighbouring farmer, with a state permit, deepened an irrigation well and started a large pivot; within a day residents had air in their taps and the town's two municipal wells, which had supplied more than double demand, began falling fast. On June 18, 2026 the mayor issued a conservation notice and the council held an emergency meeting: no watering of landscapes or lawns, no car washing and no exterior use other than for livestock, a mandatory ban the town kept on recreational outdoor watering after the pivot was shut down and the well intakes deepened in early July.
