    Ran dry: what happened

In August 2021, during Utah's extreme drought, the Town of Scofield's water storage tank ran dry because of overuse and low flows from the springs that feed the town system. The state Division of Drinking Water issued an emergency permit for the town to haul water to residents as a short-term fix and said it would work with the town on long-term measures, including meters on the wells.
