Ran dry: what happened
In early November 2013 a massive leak in the aging pipes of the Vaughn Duran Water System drained the system and left the roughly 800 people it serves, in and around the town of Vaughn, without tap water for about five days. The state transportation department trucked in non-potable water so residents could flush toilets, and the Environment Department issued a boil-water advisory citing the outage and low pressure from numerous leaks.
